Indication and frequency of X-rays in connection with orthodontic treatment. Statement by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Kieferorthopadie

In connection with the orthodontic diagnosis as well as with the planning and monitoring of treatment, the taking of otrhopantomograms (or X-ray statuses of the teeth) as well as lateral skull roentgenograms indispensable. These X-rays maybe be supplemented by intraoral X-rays, X-rays of the hand, frontal X-rays of the skull and special images such as X-rays of the mandibular joints and CT or NMR images.
