Digital Data in Orthodontics – Practical exercise

This seminar aims to introduce the participant to the use and analysis of modern digital data (digital images, digital models, computed tomography). Participants will use special software on actual data. In particular, after the end of the seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Edit digital X-ray images by adjusting brightness, contrast and histogram, applying enhancement filters and adjusting magnification.
  • Digitize cephalometric radiographs and make measurements.
  • Superimpose tracings based on cephalometric points as well as superimpose radiographs on structural anatomical landmarks.
  • Simulate orthodontic or orthognathic treatment by moving teeth and jaws, and produce a facial image from the patient’s original photograph.
  • Open computed tomography (CT) files, review incisions and create 3D reconstructions.
  • Create cephalometric and panoramic images from CT files.
  • Open digital template files and make measurements.
  • Superimpose digital casts.
  • To simulate orthognathic surgery by moving teeth and jaws in 3D CT files.
